Strap Advisor suggests watch straps from a photo of your watch and shows previews of your watch on those straps. We collect as little as possible.
When you choose a photo, it is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and to OpenAI, which analyzes it and generates strap previews. We do not keep these photos on our servers unless you turn on backup (see below). A newly generated preview is kept for 24 hours so that, if your connection drops, you can get it again without being charged twice; then it is deleted. OpenAI may keep API data for up to 30 days to detect abuse and does not use it to train its models, per its API data policy. Generated previews are only saved to your device if you choose to save or share them.
You can use Strap Advisor without an account. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive a private identifier from Apple and, if you share it, your email address (which may be an Apple private relay address). While you are signed in, we store a private backup of your collection: your watch photos, the looks you saved to My creations, watch names, confirmed lug widths, favorites and your strap ideas (including descriptions you typed and strap builds). Looks you did not save are not backed up. Your backup is stored with Cloudflare, encrypted in transit, and is only accessible with your account.
You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete my account). This permanently deletes your account, your backup, any previews still kept for retries and the collection on that device, and revokes the app's Sign in with Apple authorization. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage that in your Apple ID subscription settings. We keep the purchase ID and preview counts described below, and the purchase records needed for your subscription.
The app creates a random ID for your iPhone (a pseudonymous identifier, not your name or email). We store it with counts of the previews and watch analyses you have used, so we can apply the free and subscription limits and stop free previews being claimed twice. If you sign in, your account is linked to this ID. The counts are deleted automatically 13 months after they last change.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat, which receives the purchase ID above and your purchase history, to check whether your subscription is active and which plan you have. We never see your payment details.
No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, and we never sell your data.
Strap Advisor is not directed at children under 13.
